SMOOTHIE BLENDERS RANGE FROM THE SIMPLE TO THE COMPLEX

When you are going to buy smoothie blenders they are many brands from which to choose. Essentially all smoothie blenders are designed specifically to quickly mix up a  of fruit or vegetables into a refreshing, nutritious drink. Smoothies are traditionally made with crushed ice, which these blenders are designed to do.

It is easy to learn how to make a smoothie with a smoothie blender and if you have children who are reluctant to eat fruits and vegetables it is worth the effort and investment. If you  want to make a smoothie only occasionally, then the investment isn't worth it. But, smoothie blenders can be a great investment if you plan to use smoothies as a consistent part of your diet or to ensure that your children get their recommended quantities of fruits and veggie.

Smoothie Blenders versus Regular Blenders

Before you get started with making your smoothie, you should know that there are some subtle differences between a regular blender and a smoothie blender.

   1. Smoothie blenders have more power. It takes more power to get through some of the harder fruits, so a smoothie blender will tend to mix things faster.
   2. Smoothie blenders have a spout to pour out the liquids while retaining the solid parts of the food. This also makes it helpful to pour out some while the smoothie is still being blended.

How to make a Smoothie

Making a smoothie begins with assembling the proper ingredients and tools necessary to do the job.

    * Smoothie blender
    * Fruit of your choice
    * Cup of ice
    * Cup of water
    * Yogurt
    * Cup
    * Straw

Before putting in any ingredients, make sure the smoothie blender is clean. Check the inside for leftover residue from previous use. Take the time to clean it thoroughly. Then plug in the blender and get ready to add ingredients.

Wash Fruit I like to use a commercial fruit and vegetable wash to remove any pesticide residue.

Add Fruit and Yogurt

Pour the fruit into the blender and add a container of yogurt.

Add Water and Ice

After you have placed the fruit and yogurt into the blender you can now add a bottle of water and a cup of ice. Pour in the water easily without disturbing the yogurt too much. Add the ice after the water has settled.

Blend Ingredients

With all the ingredients inside, put the cover on the smoothie blender and turn the blender on medium speed until everything is mixed together and it is to your desired thickness. Turn off blender.

Pour in Cup and Enjoy

After everything is blended to the way you like it, pour into a cup with the spout and add your straw. If you did everything correctly, the smoothie will be smooth and without any large lumps. You can always turn it on for a few second longer to get the desired consistency.

Here is a great recipe that everyone will love:

A Family's Favorite

       1 1/2 cups orange juice
       1 ripe banana
       1 cup frozen mixed berries
       1/2 cup low-fat yogurt

       Steevia to taste

       Place ingredients into smoothie maker and blend until smooth (you may need to add a little water if it is too thick)

You will find that if you buy smoothie blenders you will not regret your decision. You will want to leave it one your counter because if you make smoothies for every family member, you will know that they are getting their daily quotas of fruits and or veggies because a smoothie blender is such a convenient way to serve fruit and veggies. The consistency is like a milkshake so you can serve it in a to-go cup as they leave for work or school.
